As an active investor, asset manager and landlord, The Crystal Group identified an opportunity to assist an existing tenant by undertaking the redevelopment of their adjoining property.

With the Whittlesea township population growing, the existing Champions IGA supermarket in Whittlesea was in need of additional space. The Crystal Group consolidated some adjoining land holdings and undertook the development of a new purpose built $5 million development.

The new building provides Champions IGA with more than 2,500sqm of retail floorspace and included on grade and basement car parking.

This property remains one of the Crystal Groups retail assets and Champions IGA Whittlesea remain a successful commercial partner.

Wellington Square


Recognising significant future growth opportunity within the Wallan township, the Crystal Group acquired numerous strategic residential and commercial property investments.

From inception through to construction, the Crystal Group undertook the development of the Mitchell Shires first indoor shopping centre in 2004. Wellington Square Shopping Centre, Wallan is a 6811 sqm neighbourhood shopping centre located on the Northern Highway in the centre of the rapidly expanding Wallan Township.

With a major anchor tenant in Woolworths, and 19 specialty, KFC and Petrol Plus, this neighbourhood centre is well visited with over 15m visitors in 2021 providing significant employment for local residents.

As a hub for the local community, the Crystal Group also incorporated the Mitchell shire council library as part of the shopping centre and provided this facility on a rent free basis for 10 years ensuring this important community facility could be provided.

The Crystal Group were responsible for all facets of the acquisition, development and construction in conjunction with  of the shopping centre and with more than 1.6 million visitors in the past year, they remain the proud owner and asset manager.

The Crystal Group wrote Overall Development Plan (ODP) in-house, lodged planning application and prepared a detailed masterplan. They successfully procured a planning permit for the development of 230 residential lots and incorporated the development of a childcare centre on the site. The Crystal Group designed and built the smart-lot single fronted dwellings opposite the retarding basin.

10 Queens Road, Melbourne


The Crystal Group acquired 10 Queens Road in the early 1990’s keenly aware of the future growth potential of its idyllic and strategic location within a corridor of growth. A somewhat tired building built in the 1970’s, the property comprised a net lettable area in excess of 9,000sqm and included more than 150 on site car parking spaces. Following extensive planning approval processes including a VCAT appeal, the Crystal group undertook a substantial renovation with Maben of the building including upgrading building services, obtaining NABERS rating, increasing on site car parking and incorporating successful ground floor retail.The Crystal Group undertook full office fit-outs on each floor during ownership. The architects DCA design won a building design award in 2009 for Commercial Design – alterations and additions for this project. The Crystal group divested this property in 2013 realising significant value uplift.

Greenhill Estate, Wallan


Greenhill estate is a boutique community located in the growing township of Wallan. The Crystal Group acquired the 28 ha parcel with the intention of providing first home buyers a more affordable option.
Comprising 365 lots, Greenhill Estate provides residents with the convenience of local schools and retail shopping centre within a rural town setting.
